Introduction by
Robert Scheidt

"The Yacht Club Santo Amaro has a huge tradition in the training of high level sailors, and lately through a competent management young teams have proven to have a promising future ahead of them selves.
Among these promises is André Fiuza, an athlete dedicated and focused on a great goal that is to develop as a sailor and reach the Olympic Games in the medium term.
His family's support has been crucial for his growth, but from now on his talent, commitment and dedication will open his way into the sport.
For my part, I wish him and the rest of "YCSA" club where I learned to sail, received valuable experience and for which I won 5 Olympic medals, the best of luck."
Robert Scheidt

I´m 24 years old. I started to sail at age 7 and racing soon after at the age of 8.
The sport brought me not only achievements in my country, but also international recognition.
Alongside the achievements, I also learned a lot about the world around me, which helped me develop my character, my emotions, intelligence, better control body, my health and etc...
During my career I have sailed in two classes at high level. The first one was the Optimist, a small boat that serves as an introduction to the world of sailing. Later on when I was 14 years and too heavy for the optimist I moved on to the 420 class which is the boat I still sail today.
The 420 Class is a transition class (youth class) that is seen as the first step for the Olympic classes, like the 470.
Now I'm in New York.
